About Me
How I Fell in Love with Trekking & Travel

Hi, I’m Abhilash—a full-time corporate professional based in Delhi NCR and a part-time adventurer at heart. Born and brought up in Delhi, with my roots in Kerala, I’ve always had a deep fascination for travel and adventure sports. But it wasn’t until 2017 that trekking truly became a part of who I am.
That spring, I laced up my boots for my very first trek to Kheerganga with a close friend. It was a transformative experience—walking through forests, soaking in natural hot springs, and disconnecting from the daily grind. For the first time, I truly felt present, grounded in nature and free from the endless hustle of city life.
But the real turning point came with my first high-altitude trek to Roopkund. That journey made me realize there’s nothing quite like trekking in the Himalayas—moving at your own pace, breathing in mountain air, and embracing the stillness. It was then I promised myself I’d try to do at least 1–2 treks every year.

Why I Started This Blog
Over the years, I’ve completed more than 15 Himalayan treks and explored various corners of India and abroad. Throughout these journeys, I often found myself wishing I had a way to document my experiences—not just for myself, but to inspire others who may be curious about trekking or traveling off the beaten path.
That’s how “Just an Ordinary Trekker“ was born. The name reflects who I am: a typical city dweller with no fancy survival skills, just a deep curiosity and a love for nature, pushing my boundaries one trail at a time—often with a guide, always with an open heart.
Through this blog, I aim to share honest experiences, practical tips, and personal stories from the trails. Whether you’re a beginner planning your first trek or someone simply looking for inspiration, I hope you find something here that speaks to you.

Beyond the Mountains
When I’m not out on a trail, you’ll probably find me jogging in a neighborhood park, participating in the occasional half marathon, or getting lost in a good book or a film from a faraway culture—I’m a sucker for stories, in every form.
I’m also a passionate sports fan, religiously following Formula 1, MotoGP, tennis, and of course, cheering for Liverpool FC—YNWA!
Thanks for stopping by. I look forward to sharing my journey with you.
